Cerise Lewis was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She is a graduate of Minneapolis South High School. Cerise graduated from Hampton University in 1994 with a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering. It was during her junior year that she met the love of her life, Connell Lewis. In June 1993, Cerise married Connell and thus began a life of ministry, music and many, many life experiences.

In January 1997, Connell and Cerise began Resurrecting Faith World Ministries. It was through a very humble beginning that Cerise began to learn the valuable lessons of leadership and compassion in ministry. As the head of the Women's Ministry, Cerise began to understand the many pains, trials and triumphs of people as she began to counsel and encourage countless women. In 2006, Connell and Cerise changed the name of the church to
Church of Minneapolis and moved the church from Brooklyn Park to Minneapolis
. It was during this transition that Cerise's focus on helping women greatly increased.

In 2007, Cerise started a weekly encouragement email. These weekly emails were purposed to provide encouragement and spiritual strength for women. Over the course of 2007 and 2008 these emails were sent out to women all over the state and throughout the nation.  Cerise released Be Encouraged in the spring of 2009. This book is a compilation of the 52 encouragement messages from 2008.

In 2009, Cerise founded the Pink Purse Project. It is her personal goal to see the Pink Purse Project help women overcome all negative life situations including domestic violence, human trafficking, homelessness, financial instability and low self esteem. Strong, confident and empowered women can help other women become strong confident and empowered by taking the time to exchange strengths for weaknesses and create opportunities for growth. Everyone that becomes a part of this project whether on the giving end or the receiving end will be empowered and encouraged to go to their next level.

Cerise has been married for 18 years and has six children, Cierra, CJ, Ashley, Naomi, Joshua and Daniel.
